Retirement Living

Retirement Living: "whether you are a Baby Boomer just beginning the exciting adventure of retirement, or someone who has been retired for awhile and is looking for advice or planning to make some changes in their retirement planning and strategies. Also welcome here are younger people who are thinking ahead to their golden years, and adult children and grandchildren of the retired who have concerns about their parents.

Retirement is a milestone in life, a milestone which most people look forward to. Even if you really love your job, you look forward to the day when you can throw the alarm clock out the window, forget about navigating through rush-hour traffic jams, and basically be on your own schedule!

However, there are also the “down sides” of retirement living. Your retirement income will probably be less than it was when you were working, and it may be a fixed amount. Many senior citizens live in poverty, or have to keep working out of financial need. Some people after they retire miss the human contact that their careers afforded them, and fall into mental depression. According to the Social Security Administration, the average time a worker collects benefits before death is only about 13 months!
