The other thing I'd advise is to try and get your IRA into a Roth, more bang for the buck also did you know you can use it for a Real Estate investment and collect monthly tax free, Google and check it out.
Like Frank said you just have to get started, do without stuff so you can put as much possible $ into retirement, trust me you'll be glad you did.
I didn't do near enough I was just lucky to have a good retirement pension from the teamsters to help and who knows how long that will last? Best of Luck!
